Actions Taken:

1.       G. Gladstone, Standing Building Committee, presented an update in the planning of the HazMat abatement and the possible demolition of the Wilber Municipal Building. He presented three options with respect to the Wilber Municipal Building:

a.       Option 1: Remove the HazMat and secure the building from further erosion @ $1.3M;

b.       Option 2: Remove the HazMat and demolish the building @ $1.56M;

c.       Option 3: Remove HazMat and maintain the façade @ $1.61M+;

d.       Option 4: Remove the HazMat only @ $950K.

C. Young, Historical Society, discussed the issues and complications involved in demolishing an historical building.

Votes Taken:

1.       MOVED by W. Heitin, and duly seconded, that the minutes of the March 9, 2006 meeting be accepted. VOTED in the affirmative (5-0-0).

2.       MOVED by W. Heitin, and duly seconded, that the CapOut support Option 2, the complete HazMat abatement and the demolition of the Wilber School Building at a cost of $1,560,000 (less the available funds authorized at the Special Town Meeting - $710,000). VOTED in the affirmative (5-0-0).
